The work of the Dakhla Atlantic port has a 74% implementation rate, according to Nisrine Yuzzi, director of monitoring and supervision of the site. The delivery of the first works is expected by the end of 2026, while the overall completion of the project is still scheduled for late 2028.

The yard of the Dakhla Atlantic port has reached 74% of the advance, said Nisrine Yuzzi on the sidelines of the third edition of the Forum on port development in the Middle East and Africa (Port Development Middle East & Africa Forum), organised in Casablanca on 8 and 9 October 2026.

According to the manager, the protective structures and the floor should be delivered by the end of the year. Work on the wharfs is also continuing, with a planned linear of more than 2.5 kilometres. A first multi-purpose dock, less than 12 metres deep, must be completed before the end of 2026.

The overall completion of the port remains fixed at the end of 2028. « The deadline of 2028 will be held », in an interview with H24Info. The timetable therefore foresees a gradual delivery of the infrastructure, with the first works being made available this year, before work on the remaining installations is continued.

However, the information provided does not specify the amount of investment already committed or details of the next phases of the project.

Beyond the construction of port facilities, the official stressed the need to develop logistic corridors linking the port to production areas and consumer markets. In particular, the competitiveness of infrastructure will depend on the ability to massify flows, improve transport continuity and reduce constraints on supply chains.

This approach also requires coordination between port, industrial and logistical actors, as well as the development of load breaking points adapted to the needs of trade.

The project is part of Morocco's strategy to strengthen its connections with Sahel countries and African States bordering the Atlantic. Nisrine Yuzzi referred in particular to the cooperation initiatives undertaken by the Kingdom and the need to establish corridors linking the economies of the continent.

However, the port's contribution to this ambition will depend on the construction of the connecting infrastructures and their ability to ensure regular and competitive trade with African and international markets.
