Marsa Morocco has finalized the entry of CMA Terminals to the capital of Nador Container Terminal. The West Terminal, scheduled to be commissioned in 2027, will have an annual capacity of 1.8 million TEUs.
Marsa Morocco announced on 15 October 2026 the finalization of the entry of CMA Terminals, subsidiary of the French group CMA CGM, to the capital of Nador Container Terminal (NCT). The operation was carried out after obtaining the necessary regulatory authorizations.
The concessionaire company of the future container terminal West of the port of Nador West Med is now 51% owned by Marsa Maroc and 49% owned by CMA Terminals. Marsa Morocco thus retains the majority of the capital and voting rights.
This operation is the result of the partnership agreement concluded between the two companies in October 2025. It covers the development and joint operation of the terminal. The planned facilities include 900 linear metres of wharf, an 18-metre draught and 37.5 hectares of land for port operations.
Processing capacity must reach 1.8 million 20-foot equivalents (TEUs) per year, a unit used to measure container volumes. Eight dock gates are also provided in the final configuration of the terminal.
Located on the Mediterranean coast of Morocco, near the Strait of Gibraltar, the Nador West Med port complex is intended to accommodate international trade-related goods flows, including container-to-ship transshipment operations.
The participation of CMA Terminals associates to the plan an operator specialized in the management of harbour terminals, while Marsa Maroc retains the majority control of the concessionaire company. This distribution of capital organizes their participation in the future commercial operation of the facility.
The West Terminal is scheduled for 2027. It will depend on the completion of the infrastructure and the preparation of the equipment necessary for container handling. Its nominal capacity of 1.8 million TEUs per year corresponds to the expected potential over time.
