The 5th edition of the International Symposium on Transport and Logistics (Translog Africa) is held from 20 to 22 October 2026 in Ouagadougou. Organized by the Burkina Faso Shippers' Council (BCC), it brings together participants from 15 countries around the resilience of supply chains, digitalization and corridor performance.
The opening ceremony was held on 20 October under the patronage of the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, represented by the President of the People's Legislative Assembly, Ousmane Bougouma.
The work covers the security of freight flows, the modernization of customs and port procedures, the financing of infrastructure and the contribution of logistics to African industrialization.
According to CBC Executive Director Denise Bado/Bouda, delegations from 15 countries participate in this edition, which aims to find answers to the constraints affecting regional exchanges.
At the opening, Ousmane Bougouma highlighted the consequences of geopolitical tensions and disruptions on African economies.
For Burkina Faso, as a landlocked country, the disruptions of corridors, port congestion and additional administrative formalities can increase the cost of transport and affect the competitiveness of enterprises.
He called for the corridors to be seen as areas of development and regional integration, involving physical infrastructure in digitisation, cooperation between actors and simplification of procedures.
The Minister of State for Mobility, Émile Zerbo, stressed the need to seek solutions adapted to African realities to facilitate the transport of goods and people.
The publisher, Souleymane Zidnaba, also highlighted the link between the reliability of the corridors, delays in delivery and the costs incurred by businesses. In particular, exchanges should identify concrete measures to improve stakeholder coordination and secure supply chains.
Several companies in the sector participate in the works, including SITARAIL, Abidjan Terminal, Côte d'Ivoire Terminal and Africa Global Logistics Burkina Faso (AGL BF).
A subsidiary of AGL, SITARAIL presented the challenges of transit corridors to landlocked countries, including costs, governance and coordination.
Its commercial director, Nadège Diarra, described the complementarity between port operations in Abidjan, rail transport to Burkina Faso and transit and storage services in the hinterland. The meeting concluded on 22 October, with the aim of making recommendations on trade fluidity and supply chain resilience.
