Ethiopian Airlines recorded a turnover of $9.1 billion at the end of its 2025/2026 fiscal year, according to the results presented on 29 July by its Managing Director, Mesfin Tasew. The company reported that it had transported 20.7 million passengers during the period and continued to expand its network and infrastructure.

According to data provided by Ethiopian Airlines, 20.7 million passengers travelled on board during the 2025/2026 fiscal year, an increase of 8% over the previous year.

On the freight segment, the company reported having transported 897,000 tons of goods, up 16%. Passenger-kilometre traffic increased by 10%, while freight capacity increased by 8%.

During the year, the carrier opened four new international destinations, bringing its network to 150 international destinations and 25 domestic destinations. Ethiopian Airlines also reports having integrated nine aircraft into its fleet and acquired eight training aircraft for its flying academy.

At the same time, expansion work continues at Bole d'Addis-Ababa International Airport, including passenger and freight terminals, while the company reports on the progress of the future Bishoftu airport project.

In presenting the results, Managing Director Mesfin Tasew indicated that the company's operations had been affected by several factors, including the disruption of tensions in the Gulf region, the suspension of certain services due to restrictions imposed by the United States, and the interruption of flights to the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

However, he noted that the performance of the first nine months of the financial year had contributed to the annual results.

These results come as Ethiopia Airlines continues to implement its Vision 2040 plan, which provides for the extension of the company's network, the development of its freight capacity and the construction of new airport infrastructure.

However, their evolution will continue to depend on a number of factors, including aircraft availability, geopolitical context and air market conditions.
