GT Lines will open in mid-August a new maritime service linking Dar es Salaam Khorfakkan, United Arab Emirates. Named Khorfakkan Tanzania Express (KTX), this link aims to improve trade between East Africa, the Gulf and Asian markets by building on Gulftainer's logistics network.
GT Lines has announced the launch of the Khorfakkan Tanzania Express (KTX), a direct marine service between Dar es Salaam and Khorfakkan that will enter service in mid-August 2026. Operating with two dedicated ships, the link will be provided every ten days, with an announced transit time of nine days between the two ports.
Beyond this direct connection, the service integrates with the logistics network developed by Gulftainer. Shipments through Khorfakkan can be transported to the Gulf countries, the Indian subcontinent and Asia through connections to the Khorfakkan commercial terminal, Sharjah port, regional feeder services and shipping networks operated by GT Lines.
The device also includes connections to the Umm Qasr commercial terminal in Iraq, as well as to the Momentum Logistics land logistics platforms. The aim is to facilitate the movement of goods between East Africa and several regional and international markets via an integrated transport network.
According to GT Lines, this new service must offer an alternative to existing routes by reducing delivery times and improving the regularity of operations. It operates in a context of expanding trade between East Africa and the Gulf and Asian markets, where maritime operators seek to strengthen their connectivity offerings.
