The Directorate-General for Customs and the Organizing Committee for the Youth Olympic Games (COJOJ) rely on a Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2025 to facilitate the clearance of equipment and prepare for the reception of international delegations in Dakar.
The preparation of the Olympic Youth Games (JOJ) Dakar 2026 mobilises Senegalese customs services. On 25 October 2026, the Director General of Customs, Malick Mbaye, met Mamadou Diagna Ndiaye, President of the Senegalese National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSS) and COJOJ, at the headquarters of the institution in Dakar. Discussions focused on the latest logistical preparations and measures to facilitate competition-related customs operations.
Cooperation between the two structures is based on a Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2025. It provides for simplified and adapted procedures to speed up the clearance of goods and equipment necessary for the organisation of the Games.
According to the officials, these arrangements contributed to the timely reception of the equipment and the commissioning of the sports infrastructure planned for the event.
The scheme also concerns the arrival of foreign participants. Malick Mbaye assured that the customs units mobilized at the main entry points of the territory, particularly in airport and port platforms, were ready to facilitate the care of athletes and officials.
The administration intends to accompany delegations throughout their stay, from the arrival of the first athlete to the departure of the last participant. In order to inform travellers of the formalities applicable, the Customs Directorate-General and the OCOGJ have also developed an online travel guide.
Mamadou Diagna Ndiaye welcomed the role of the customs administration in the preparation of the Games, considering that its intervention contributes to the delivery of infrastructure and the organisation of competitions. This system should facilitate the movement of equipment and people near Dakar 2026.
