DHL ranks Morocco among its priority markets to support the evolution of trade flows

The German DHL Group has identified Morocco as one of its priority markets under its programme « Geographic Tailwinds ». Announced at Tangier Logistics Days 2026, this decision is based in particular on the country's position between Europe and Africa, its industrial fabric and the evolution of business supply strategies.

DHL Group has integrated Morocco into its selection of markets considered to be a priority in the face of changing global trade flows. Through the programme « Geographic Tailwinds », the group identifies savings that could benefit from reorganisations of supply chains, the approximation of production sites in consumer markets and the increase in foreign direct investment.

At the Tangier Logistics Days 2026, Mary Oxley, Vice President Marketing and Sales of DHL Global Forwarding Middle East and Africa, said that this designation reflected developments already on the ground. According to her, the location of Morocco between Europe and Africa, its industrial development and its logistics infrastructure support this development.

DHL combines this dynamic with several industrial sectors in Morocco, including automotive, aeronautics, life sciences, health and agri-food. The Group believes that the diversification of supply sources and the search for production sites closer to the main markets are gradually changing transport and logistics needs.

However, the designation of Morocco does not correspond, in the information provided, to the announcement of a new quantified investment or to the construction of a new infrastructure. Rather, it reflects the priority given by DHL to a market that is expected to participate more in trade flows between Europe, Africa and other regions served by the country's industrial chains.

This new classification is based on an already established presence. DHL employs more than 400 professionals in Morocco in its various activities. DHL Express has been present there since 1987 and operates express air cargo platforms in Casablanca and Tangier, as well as nine service centres, 23 outlets and 147 vehicles.

The activity also includes two dedicated cargo aircraft and two facilities certified by the Association for the protection of transported assets (Transported Asset Protection Association, TAPA). DHL Global Forwarding has been operating in the country since 2007, with headquarters in Casablanca and agencies in Tangier and Agadir.

The DHL Global Forwarding facility includes a 3,600 m2 warehouse located in the Tangier Med Hub Free Zone. The facility provides maritime and air transport, customs clearance and integrated logistics operations.

For DHL, this establishment must accompany the flows generated by Moroccan industrial and export activities, in a context where companies seek to diversify their suppliers, production sites and logistics routes.

Morocco thus joins the selection of markets on which the group intends to focus more attention as international supply chains are reshaped.
