A working session chaired on 22 July 2026 by the Director General of the Autonomous Port of Douala provided an update on the deployment of the new Port Information System (SIP). Launched in November 2024, the project is expected to replace the former CARGO software package and digitize several port management processes by its expected completion in October 2026.
The Autonomous Port of Douala (PAD) continues the deployment of its new Port Information System (SIP). A working session on the progress of the project was held on 22 July 2026 under the chairmanship of Cyrus Ngo
According to the information published by the port authority, this meeting has included an update on the implementation of the platform and its deployment to the various structures and partners of the port.
Launched on 14 November 2024, the SIP will replace the CARGO software package currently used for several operations. The new system should include, inter alia, the management of ship and cargo ports of call, invoicing and collection, electronic payment of charges and port access management.
Truck appointment planning and booking are also among the features planned. The project must lead to the establishment of a digital platform bringing together several services for the actors of the port community.
After several months of design, a test phase began on July 3, 2026. The CSA indicates that the first treatments performed on the platform included 53 ship stopovers, 26 manifests and 26 invoices, in addition to several ship-related services. The progressive deployment also concerns several internal structures of the port as well as partners, including the consignees and the consignees.
The generalisation of the system must still be accompanied by training and the strengthening of the skills of users before it is fully integrated into port operations.
Project completion is scheduled for 14 October 2026. In the long term, the SIP should allow for more centralization of the digital procedures of the Port of Douala-Bonabéri and facilitate the exchange of data between the various actors in the port chain.
