Pacific International Lines (PIL) will strengthen its Imara Express (IMX) service with two dedicated loops linking India directly to Mombasa, Kenya, and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The two weekly services will commence on 23 and 24 September 2026, respectively, from Nhava Sheva in India.
Announced in August, the IMX service was originally to link Nhava Sheva, Mundra, Dar es Salaam, Mombasa and Nhava Sheva. PIL has finally selected a configuration in two loops in order to directly serve the two main sea entry doors of East Africa. The first service, IM1, will be dedicated to Dar es Salaam, while the second, IM2, will serve Mombasa.
The rotation of the IM1 will be Nhava Sheva – Mundra – Dar es Salaam – Nhava Sheva, with a first departure scheduled for 24 September. M2 will follow the Nhava Sheva – Mundra – Mombasa – Nhava Sheva rotation, with a first stop from Nhava Sheva on 23 September. Both loops will operate with a weekly frequency depending on the company.
According to PIL, this new organization must respond to the increase in trade between India and East Africa by providing more transport opportunities and wider coverage of regional markets.
The carrier states that the scheme will also improve the frequency and flexibility of its network, while complementing its existing links between Asia and Africa.
