Italian shipowner Ignazio Messina & C. will launch in September the West Med Line, a new regular service bringing together its existing services to Algeria and Libya. The first rotation is scheduled for September 6 at the departure of Castellón, Spain.
The new service will provide departures from Spain and France about every ten days. It will serve the ports of Castellón, Barcelona, Fos-sur-Mer, Genoa, Misrata, Tripoli and Algiers, before a return to Castellón. This rotation will bring together the services previously operated separately by the shipowner to Algeria and Libya within the same network.
The first crossing will be carried out by the Libertas H, which will leave Castellón on 6 September. A second departure is scheduled for 17 September aboard the Pacific Dalian. The West Med Line will offer direct connections as well as connections via the port of Genoa to the various markets covered by the network.
According to Ignazio Messina, this new organization must also improve transit times for certain goods coming from the east of the Suez Canal thanks to connections established via Misrata. The service will thus cover the Spanish, French, Libyan and Algerian markets through a unique rotation in the Western Mediterranean.
