Air Senegal announced the acquisition of a Boeing 737-800 with the support of the State of Senegal. The aircraft must integrate the company's fleet and will be used in particular to transport the flame of the Olympic Youth Games Dakar 2026.

On 1 September 2026, Air Senegal announced the acquisition of a Boeing 737-800 with financial support from the State of Senegal. According to the company, the operation was entirely government-led.

The Director General, Tidiane Ndiaye, indicated that the acquisition was under state support to the national company. No financial details on the operation were provided.

The new aircraft must be assigned to the company's operations on its regional and international routes. Air Senegal states that its acquisition must enable it to increase its operational capabilities.

The company also presents this operation as part of its fleet renewal and business development policy.

The Boeing 737-800 will also be involved in the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games. Air Senegal must use it to get the Olympic flame.

On this occasion, the device will receive a specific dress in the colors of the event. The JOJ Dakar 2026 will be the first edition of the Olympic Youth Games in Africa.

According to Air Senegal, this acquisition is part of a long-term programme to have a fleet adapted to the needs of the company. The management points in particular to the strengthening of passenger transport capacities and the provision of services to the regional and international market.
