Etihad Airways plans to resume its daily links between Abu Dhabi and Lagos on 18 March 2027. In preparation for this recovery, the Nigerian authorities and the Emirati company have initiated discussions on the operational modalities of the service and on several areas of cooperation in the air sector.
Nigerian Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo recently visited Abu Dhabi at the invitation of the Government of the United Arab Emirates and Etihad Airways.
In particular, the working visit addressed the latest administrative procedures for the launch of the Abu Dhabi-Lagos liaison, scheduled to resume on 18 March 2027.
Discussions with the company management also focused on a broader partnership between Nigeria and Etihad Airways.
The areas envisaged include training of aviation personnel, maintenance and engineering, freight and logistics, as well as development of airport infrastructure and technologies. The Minister visited the facilities of Etihad Aviation Training and Zayed International Airport.
The resumption of this daily link must also strengthen the transport capacity between Nigeria and the international networks served since Abu Dhabi.
Etihad plans to integrate this service into its expansion on the African continent, with prospects for passenger and freight flows, particularly in the agricultural, pharmaceutical and manufacturing sectors.
